It would include 203 units of housing and retail space

A new apartment complex planned near the intersection of Western Avenue and Sunset Boulevard is moving through the planning process, and a new environmental report on the project offers a glimpse of what the seven-story mixed use building will look like.

Set to rise at 1350 North Western Avenue, the development would bring 203 new units of housing to the area, along with an underground parking garage and 14,231 square feet of retail space.

17 of the planned apartments would be affordable to residents earning under half of LA’s median income. The available units will consist of 60 studios, 44 one-bedroom apartments, 74 two-bedrooms, and 25 three-bedrooms.

As for the parking, there would be 188 spots for automobiles and another 239 spaces for bikes.

Designed by Urban Architecture Lab, the complex would have a glossy exterior with walls of glass on the ground floor and private balconies on the upper level. With 24,061 square feet of open space available for residents, amenities are set to include courtyards, a community room, a fitness center, and a swimming pool.

The project has been scaled back a bit since it was first announced in 2015; developers Gemdale Corporation and LaTerra Development said at the time it would include 254 units. They also predicted it would be complete by 2018. Now, the projected opening date has been moved back a bit, to 2020.
