The historic Banco Popular building will be getting an addition with a restaurant, pool, gym, and more
The Historic Core’s Banco Popular building at Fourth and Spring streets is, after many years of silence, getting a move on its conversion to residential units. Also known as the Hellman Building, the 1903 structure is in the process of becoming 188 high-end apartments with ground-floor commercial space and maybe even a basement bar.
Another element of the renovation was planned to add more space onto the 10-story building’s roof, and now, thanks to Urbanize LA, we have a better idea of what that will look like.
A brochure for the project shows renderings for the addition up top, which will include room for a restaurant and resident perks like the gym, rec room, and a very cool rooftop pool. Are those cabanas? Watch out, Soho Warehouse—this roof looks like the place to be.
